How we work

Pinreel assembles international teams of artists and technical supervisors and designs a production pipeline tailored to each project. This “soup-to-nuts” model allows for greater flexibility, streamlined communication, and a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and detail.

The studio’s first project was the animated music video “Video Games” for Tenacious D (2023). It quickly became a viral success, passing 50 million views on YouTube and screening at the Hollywood Bowl with a live orchestra.

Most recently, founder Adam Paloian wrote, directed and produced the CG television special “Go Fetch!” (2025) for SpongeBob SquarePants, made entirely in house at Pinreel from development through final delivery. It was selected for competition at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

A house style

At Pinreel, we are developing our own house style of cartoony animation that uses CG as a crossroads where the best of all art mediums converge, creating a fresh visual style that supports the kind of storytelling we want to see, in a way that feels entirely new.

01

Drawn first

Every character, set and pose starts as a drawing. Adam draws over models and animation directly, so the cartoon survives the trip into 3D.

02

Built like miniatures

Sets are dressed like stop-motion dioramas and lit like a stage, inspired by View-Master slides and Fleischer’s 1930s stereoptical sets.

03

Small, senior, international

A flexible crew of specialists around the world. On “Go Fetch!”, about 20 animators delivered 80+ shots in roughly a year.
